The skin color of the chameleons
The changes of color of the chameleons play an important role in the communication between the different individuals. The color changes depending on the mood of the lizard, like fear or anger, the amount of light, as well as the temperature and the humidity.
The bright colored male chameleons are dominant and have better chance to attract the attention of more females. The non-dominant male is brown or grey colored.
The females use different colors to accept or reject the male. Their colors can also indicate pregnancy.
